Successful first meeting Maastricht (NL), Eijsden-Margraten (NL), Maasmechelen (BE) and Lanaken (BE) in the context of the administrative approach to organised crime

On Thursday 16 March, the EURIEC organised a meeting for the first time between staff from the municipalities of Maastricht (NL), Eijsden-Margraten (NL), Maasmechelen (BE) and Lanaken (BE). The meeting focused on the administrative approach to organised crime in the Limburg border region.

The aim of the meeting was firstly to get to know each other. A second aim was to exchange information on the administrative enforcement on, for instance, sex establishments, and crime phenomena visible on both sides of the border, such as the housing of migrant workers. As both the introduction and the substantive discussion were successful, another meeting will be planned in the near future. Among other topics, the meeting will focus on the possibilities for information exchange around domiciliary fraud.

Thanks to all participants, who together are taking the international administrative approach another step forward, and special thanks to the Maasmechelen municipality for its hospitality!
