Meeting of the Landeskriminalamt NRW on organised crime in the context of the establishment, exploitation and disposal of waste from/of illegal laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs in the border area (Netherlands – Belgium – Germany).
On 18 October, the Landeskriminalamt of NRW organised an online event for various authorities on the possibilities of providing information on organised crime. Specifically, this concerned the possibilities for information exchange in connection with the establishment and operation of illegal laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs in the border area of Germany/Netherlands/Belgium, as well as the illegal disposal of waste from drug production. The aim of the meeting was to intensify cooperation and the exchange of information between authorities and, where necessary, to improve it as part of an administrative approach. After all, it is important that the (local) authorities recognise the signs of organised crime, for example in the illegal dumping of chemical waste from drug production or by smells during inspections of remote factory buildings. The organisers informed and raised awareness among the authorities on this important issue and provided practical knowledge. In this context, EURIEC informed participants about its work and expertise.
