Limburg Border Municipality (NL) – EURIEC – German Border Municipality (D)

A ‘cross-border’ meeting between a Dutch Limburg border municipality and a neighbouring German city as part of the administrative approach to organised crime. The German border municipality has a kilometre-long border line with Dutch Limburg. With the idea that crime does not stop at the border, this meeting was organised.

EURIEC explained the Dutch administrative approach to organised crime and the importance of cross-border information exchange for this administrative approach.

Despite the fact that there are major differences in powers and tasks between the Dutch and German municipalities, there is a willingness to join forces and share information where legally possible. In the future, the Dutch and German municipalities will investigate together with EURIEC where the possibilities and bottlenecks lie in the cross-border exchange of information.
