On Tuesday 11 April, Scott Schwickert from the ‘Ministerium für Heimat, Kommunales, Bau und Digitalisierung’ of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia gave a presentation about control actions on housing quality for migrant workers. The migrant workers were housed by an employment agency in Germany, and employed in the Netherlands. In addition, Gwen Backhaus (expert Human Trafficking RIEC Limburg) and Jasmijn van Mil (expert Human Trafficking East Brabant) gave a brief presentation on the consequences of the Dutch legislative proposal “modernisation and extension of criminalisation of human trafficking”. The presentations led to a pleasant introduction and a lively discussion on both topics.
